Kathmandu: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' held discussions with leaders from top political parties regarding his upcoming visit to the United Nations General Assembly and China. The meeting took place at Singha Darbar, the office of the Prime Minister and the Council of Ministers.
During the discussion, attended by former prime ministers, leaders of political parties, and former foreign ministers, Prime Minister Prachanda emphasized the need for balanced diplomatic relations with neighboring countries. He highlighted the importance of reviewing the implementation status of past agreements, focusing on bilateral interests and security, and ensuring that Nepal's non-aligned foreign policy is understood and respected by its neighbors.
Prime Minister Prachanda assured that preparations have been made for a fruitful and effective visit to China. He stated, "The suggestions received are important. It will help to make my visit effective. Efforts have been made to make the visit fruitful and effective."
The Prime Minister emphasized Nepal's commitment to maintaining balanced relations with both neighbors and the international community. He reiterated Nepal's adherence to a non-aligned foreign policy.
During his visit to the UN General Assembly, Prime Minister Prachanda plans to discuss Nepal's development efforts, the impact of climate change on countries like Nepal, and Nepal's role in concluding the peace process. He also intends to appeal for joint efforts in these areas.
The agenda of visiting China directly from the UN General Assembly has been determined after diplomatic discussions, and the visit will focus on Nepal-China relations and bilateral interests.
Leaders from various political parties, including Nepali Congress chairman Sher Bahadur Deuba, CPN (UML) chairman KP Sharma Oli, and CPN (Unified Socialist) chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal, participated in the discussion. Foreign Minister NP Saud, former foreign ministers, and government officials also attended the meeting.
